Recently, Endesignstudio designed & implemented a news/blog/media section for MetroSouth Medical Center. Although still in the process of adding a few more links and functional aspects, here tis. The new section has definitely increased traffic to the site and will continue do so as Google loves dynamic and ever-changing web sites. I will update post with stats as soon as the first month has ended and we have a comparable.

Endesignstudio was also in charge of designing some nice banner callouts:
As a designer/developer in the web business, I am ultimately a huge fan of purely custom web sites. From the stand point of the actual job itself, they are more exciting and of course they pay better because more of the design and code—such as the stylesheet (CSS)—is developed “from scratch”. One of my favorite sites, Unmatched Style is a great resource for the planning of beautiful CSS/XHTML web sites.
On the other hand, not every client cares about having the most original web site in cyber space and nor should they. With over 8 billion web sites, the likelyhood of someone happening upon two sites that use the same template is quite rare. In terms of the functionality behind the site, that is most likely available somewhere under a creative commons license, share and share alike. A web site that clearly fits your brands color pallet and identity is of course top line, but the layout and functionality behind the site may not need to be “original”.
In the changing of economical times, a certain group of web developers have enabled a new breed of web sites that are quite affordable for those wanting a web site that clearly represents their brand and who don’t want to spend a ton of money. Yes folks, it is called a template… There are many perks other than price point using a template as well. Here are a few others:
- Extremely clean code that work in all browsers (even IE6)
- SEO-friendly code (meta tags in place, H1, H2 tags etc)
- Clean design and a layout that the visitor is familiar with (top nav, right side bar etc.).
- You are paying a very small amount for for what can be 100+ hours of development time. (The developers make their $ after a certain amount of sales and their potential is more)
- The best for last… You can even manage your own content going forward using popular content management systems such as WordPress, Joomla and Drupal.
Although it may not be for everybody, it is something to consider especially in this economy.
Currently I am working on developing collateral for Hampton University Skin of Color Research Institute’s 2010 Symposium called From Benchtop to Bedside. We have gone to print with the Save the Date and are in the approval process with the Branding for the event. Read More
Skateropolis was developed by Chicago creative directors and passionate skateboarders, Mike Endicott of Endesignstudio & Randall Cross of Ethervision. The mission was to create a robust skateboard iPhone application that could be used to find skateparks all over the world and interact with fellow skaters on a daily basis. The application was developed to allow users the ability to rate the skateparks, skitch (or follow) other users and post skatepark media (either photos or YouTube clips) straight from their iPhones. In tandem, Ethervision and Endesignstudio teamed up on this project to conceptualize, design and develop an iPhone application and web site for the skateboard industry. The app allows users to locate, get park details, and view media (videos and images) for over 4000 skateparks worldwide. The app has the functionality to allow users to tag YouTube videos and upload images for each skatepark as well as create groups, leave status updates, and follow their friends. The web site is a Drupal/ WordPress hybrid. The application has received a ton of praise from numerous iPhone application review sites.

A Chicago couples therapist and teacher of the model EFT, Jeffery Hickey was in need of a way to get information to prospective clients and other professionals about his expertise. We designed a custom WordPress theme that made it easy for Jeff to manage his own content and we gave him a few tips on how to take the reins on content updates.
Here is a video montage I developed to show the CINN & NOHC’s local and regional media involvement in the neurosciences over the 2009 fiscal year. I had to deal with a lot of low res video clips and splice them up in order to get the message across and keep the montage within a reasonable length.
