Skateropolis was developed by Chicago creative directors and passionate skateboarders, Mike Endicott of Endesignstudio & Randall Cross of Ethervision. The mission was to create a robust skateboard iPhone application that could be used to find skateparks all over the world and interact with fellow skaters on a daily basis. The application was developed to allow users the ability to rate the skateparks, skitch (or follow) other users and post skatepark media (either photos or YouTube clips) straight from their iPhones. In tandem, Ethervision and Endesignstudio teamed up on this project to conceptualize, design and develop an iPhone application and web site for the skateboard industry. The app allows users to locate, get park details, and view media (videos and images) for over 4000 skateparks worldwide. The app has the functionality to allow users to tag YouTube videos and upload images for each skatepark as well as create groups, leave status updates, and follow their friends. The web site is a Drupal/ WordPress hybrid. The application has received a ton of praise from numerous iPhone application review sites.
